I live in an area that is very bad for drugs. That being said, as someone with a chronic condition I’m not even comfortable taking pain medication because I feel like it makes me a target. Does anyone else run into this problem when dating? I won’t even take gabapentin because apparently it has a high street value

That’s definitely something to keep in mind… It’s awful that this is even something that has to be considered when we take these kinds of medications. My father, who lived with chronic pain alongside his disabilities, always told me about how he never discussed his medications with people after catching theft in the act, time and time again.…Read More

I’m not sacrificing my comfort for fears. I have taken them for over 13 years at this moment. I was born and raised in an area, where YES, you may be a target in the parking lot etc. They do sit and watch, lurk behind you in line to hear what you are picking up etc. Pharmacies in those areas typically will have a guard go to your car with you…Read More

@emilyxlc I am telling you. I hear stories all the time that people go to that hospital and get sent home and die..

Be the one who makes them change- file a formal complaint- Attny General etc. No way should any medical establishment have such a negative view from the general public. Sorry you are going through this 🙁

@eclecticzebra THIS. It’s hard to think straight after this kind of crap happens, but you are right.

@emilyxlc yes it is. You get more depressed and feel hopeless

@eclecticzebra I think I will. Thank you

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia back in 2010. I have tried all kinds of prescription medications and have never found anything to really work for me. I also feel like it is different with everyone: what might work for me may not work for 20 others. That being said: I use cannabis and I exercise. Yoga has helped me a lot, as well. I am prescribed…Read More

Is anyone else dealing with Toxic Positivity from their support system?

@suzzee33 Thanks Suzzee! I know that my family being positive is them trying their best to support me!

It’s tough, @glockdeadgorgeous because everyone just deals with everything differently. I know the ‘fake it til you make it’ mindset works for some folks, but that just is not applicable to everyone. ESPECIALLY when it comes to chronic pain and illness. Hugs to you.

@emilyxlc My problem right now, is that I am ready to come to terms with the fact and accept the fact that after my car accident and two surgeries, I now have a chronic pain condition and I just want help from them in creating a new life plan for myself and adujusting my goals to meet my new circumstances. They still want me to undergo…Read More

@glockdeadgorgeous That is heartbreaking to hear– I am so sorry. People tend to like to cling to their previous perceptions of people for their comfort and convenience, even when it ends up hurting someone. I think this is why it is so important for those of us who experience chronic pain/illness to have our tribe of those who *truly*…Read More

After ALL of these years, I had thought I was alone! I didn’t even know there was a true name for them until now– I just always called it post-migraine high. It makes me want to eat a TON of food and I just feel SO good after the migraine finally breaks. I try to drink plenty of water as one of my big migraine triggers is dehydration and that…Read More
