In 2001 my home exploded with me in it. I was severely injured in multiple places and have severe permanent pain due to those injuries and nerve damage. I have a question for the group– does anyone have any suggestions to help ease the pain while I am sleeping? I can cope with the pain for the most part when I am awake, but when I sleep at times (especially if there is a storm coming) I wake with intense pain and it prevents sleep.

Hey there! So sorry to hear about your home and your injuries, that’s terrible. I myself have written a couple of articles on nerve pain, and I know we’ve got an article about how to sleep better with chronic pain. I’ll go ahead and link both of those for you, I hope they help!
I cannot imagine what you have gone through, and just proves that those with chronic pain are indeed, the strongest people one could meet 😉 I personally only occasionally wake because of pain, my medications are timed as such to ‘cover’ me during the day and my health issues all cause me to be lethargic 24/7 so I really pretty much black out at night. Muscle relaxers and heart medication especially. Have you tried any OTC sleep medications in (safe) combo with your pain medications? TENS unit, Epsom salt soak, Heating pad, Melatonin, Ice pack are some of the many trial and errors I have done in the past. Are you seeking holistic options? It sounds like an M.D./D.O. question as chronic muscle, bone, nerve and joint pain are similar yet so different. Hopefully someone here can exactly relate and offer help.
