You are right – this is too important not to make people aware of. Here is some basics on this. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/alpha-gal-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20428608

The Alpha-Gal map -Im sure its missing thousands of pins but this amount is obscene. Misdiagnoses etc.. https://www.zeemaps.com/mobile?group=555038

@eclecticzebra I never heard of term “Alpha-Gal” until the article was shared here. I definitely think it is important to share information on uncommon allergies, diseases, and health issues. I have felt like a medical mystery half of my life and I am sure many others here have as well.

This is very interesting indeed. I had always been under the impression that this was a disease of the NE United States. Does anybody know of people who contracted this in Europe – I’ve not seen anything in the literature about this in Europe.
-
@aweber It is everywhere. https://alphagalinformation.org/where/ My pin is where I contracted it-Virginia. This site btw is THE factual, detailed go to site for anyone who wants. The horrid thing is-doctors do not know it or believe it (silly-there is a blood test!)
-
@eclecticzebra This sounds like so many afflictions, especially pain. “It’s all in your head” is a common phrase the medical community and others will use. The more people know, they can ASK for a blood test.

Ticks are the worst. I never had any idea how TRULY dangerous these little buggers are until recently!

This would be a great discussion with people that have suffered or know somebody that has (as I do). There can be a lifetime of physical pain associated with undiagnosed or late diagnosed Lyme disease. Not to mention the known neurological effects. I have seen the pain manifested in my friend in his legs, where he cannot walk for a while.

TOTALLY not pain-related, but as someone who loves history, I thought this was so interesting!

I was about to say– TAG ME NEXT TIME, haha! Weirdly enough, when I was medicated for my ADHD, my migraines were nearly non-existent.
-
I think it is worth revisiting that, or the meds maybe being the answer to your migraines! We’re now in the time where it’s more accepted to use medications for reasons that did not spawn their creation. IE. Botox for pain etc..
-
@eclecticzebra I’ll have health insurance again very soon and it’s literally the FIRST thing on my to-do list! I’m also about ready to explore Botox for migraines because I’ve heard FANTASTIC things.

I always wonder how many of those cases also, unknowingly have Alpha-Gal allergy as well 🙁 Awareness is coming, slowly. It’s still far too difficult to find a LLMD so AG has many years behind that, to be a household known allergy. pssst..I HATE TICKS!
