I am interested in finding an evidence based, peer reviewed meta analysis or recent study on chronic pain and it’s influence on added pain (so someone with RA, and how surgical pain is rated.)

I’m recovering from neck surgery. Each procedure I have, I’ve noticed, it takes longer to get my pain under control. I use opioids for only a week or two, after the initial surgical pain, they do no good. I have my daily pain with new pain and there are days I can barely stand it.

My surgeon’s office takes the minimum of 24-48 hours to respond. I had to come off Arava for the neck fusion. I don’t think they seem to understand that taking me off the none drug that was keeping so much of my disease at bay has created a storm of pain for me. To make it worse none of my other doctors will touch me until I’m released from the neurosurgeon.

I’m very fortunate. I have a good surgeon, but I feel the slow response to pain relief issues by his office is horrible and causes suffering and set backs.

I’d love to have a gentle and civil talk but I would like to educate myself first. I was a research associate in an institute several years ago. I’ve lost access to my portals. I do go to NIH, Johns Hopkins, UVA, etc to read.

If anyone has additional resources that would be nice.

Maybe a questionnaire could be developed here. Even anecdotal data can certainly influence understanding.
